Anna's story

Meet Anna

Nine-year-old Anna Robinson features in the new Cancer Research UK TV advert.

Anna was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in January 2006. Her mum, Heather, a nurse, had taken her to the doctors after Anna suffered pains in her legs, appetite loss, exhaustion and a high temperature.

She was treated at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle and underwent a course of intensive chemotherapy. Anna's treatment finished in 2008 and she is now doing well.

Anna is a real Race for Life supporter – she has taken part in the events for four years and even went on stage at the Middlesbrough Race for Life to officially start the events in 2007 and 2008.

"It's fun and all my friends take part and it's nice to see everyone raising money," Anna says.

So far she has raised an amazing £5,000 for Cancer Research UK's vital work through Race for Life.

"Although Anna can't really remember much about what happened to her when she was little she absolutely loves taking part in the Race for Life events. We have Team Anna T-shirts and get all dressed up," says Heather. "We feel it's the least we can do after all the treatment she's received."
