Covid-19 update

Based on the UK Government’s decision to close schools due to the coronavirus outbreak, we are pausing registrations for Race for Life Schools.  If your school has already signed up to host an event, we encourage you to reschedule this once the school safely reopens.

Thank you for your continued support during these unprecedented times.

Race for Life Schools FAQs

It's down to schools like yours that we can keep developing treatments and funding new research. Every penny you raise will go towards life-saving research in the fight against cancer.

There are all sorts of ways you can fundraise as well as holding your Race for Life. From holding cake sales and quizzes at your school to simply charging pupils £2 to wear their own clothes for the day, the possibilites are endless!

There are lots of ways you can pay in your money. As well as your Cancer Research UK Giving Page, you can pay over the phone, by post, or if you have a local contact at Cancer Research UK you can return your money to them.

Despite the name, Race for Life Schools isn't just for schools! No matter what group you're part of you're welcome you to hold your own event. From sports teams and community groups to scouts and guiding groups we'd love for you to join us.

You choose the distance of your school's Race for Life and the pace at which your pupils take part. So it can take as little or as long time as you like. You may even want to consider setting different distances and challenges for different abilities.

You can hold your Race for Life at any time of day and any time of year, whatever suits you. You could incorporate it into a PE lesson or even make a whole day of it and invite along friends and family.

It's up to you who takes part in your Race for Life, all ages and abilities are welcome. Feel free to invite pupils, staff, family and friends. You may even want to invite along your pets!

We'd always recommend you stick to your school's safeguarding and events policies, but if you have any queries you can visit cruk.org.uk/safety. You can also find a risk assessment template here, which we encourage you to carry out before your Race for Life.

You will receive an email confirming your registration and you will be given a link to your school's very own Cancer Research UK Giving Page.
