Course information

The course begins by the Lion’s Den and takes in all the park has to offer, including the Boating Lake, Duck Pond and Pavillion Gardens. Inside the park the terrain is mainly path. The route then heads down towards Snipe Clough and loops around the hidden woodland area and back into the main park. A real community event, participants will get a warm welcome from spectators as they finish the route on the same path they started on.

Meeting point

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll  be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.

The event site and start line is near to the ‘Lions Den’ to the north of the park.

Alexandra Park is located to the south east of Oldham town centre and easily accessible from both M60 J22 and M62 J20. It is surrounded by Park Road/Queens Road, Kings Road and Alexandra Road where parking is available. Parking is limited on these roads and available on a first come first serve basis.

The closest train station is Oldham (1.1 miles) or Oldham Mumps Metrolink Station (0.8miles). You can also easily access the park on bus routes:

From Oldham Bus Station, stopping on Park Road

149 From Oldham Mumps, stopping on Abbey Hills Road

149 From Oldham Bus Station, stopping on Abbeyhills Road

Wheelchair accessible
Toilets

We would advise that this event is accessible for wheelchair users with assistance.  The majority of the route is on hardstanding paths but there is a section on grass that can get quite boggy in wet weather.  A shorter route would be available if grounds are unsuitable.  Disabled parking is available at Alexandra Park Car Park.

Supporter / spectator access

Inviting your friends and family to support you on the day is a great idea, they can share in the joy with you as you cross the finish line and ring the bell.  They can also help you with those important things, like holding your belongings whilst you walk, jog or run round the course!

Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19. We will update on this nearer the time.
