The Taunton route runs through the picturesque Longrun Meadow taking in views across Taunton. The route has a mixed terrain with gentle slopes but is mainly on gravel paths. There are lots of opportunities for supporters to cheer on their loved ones and the whole event has a fantastic atmosphere.
The start line is on the Castle School playing fields, opposite the Castle Sports Centre. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.
There is limited parking at this event, please use the Heron Drive entrance following the signage to this parking. Please car share where possible to reduce the numbers of cars.
There is a train station in Taunton which is about a 25 minute walk from the venue. There are no buses on a Sunday so please try to car pool in a taxi with friends. For further information on where to park please visit the Taunton Deane Borough Council website at:

The route has a mixed terrain with gentle slopes but is mainly on gravel through Longrun meadow. The event site and part of the route is on grass. Taunton 5k is wheelchair accessible with assistance but can become boggy and uneven in poor weather conditions.
Inviting your friends and family to support you on the day is a great idea, they can share in the joy with you as you cross the finish line and ring the bell. They can also help you with those important things, like holding your belongings whilst you walk, jog or run round the course!
Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19. We will update on this nearer the time.
