Course information

Our 5k event offers a single lap route around the historic and beautiful City of Chester, starting and finishing within the  grounds of the world's oldest race course

The terrain is predominantly road and path with some grass sections at the start and finish within the race course. The route includes some short uphill stretches but should be suitable for most levels of fitness and experience.

Please remember to bring your own water bottle already filled as there will be no bottled water provided at events. ScottishPower water refill stations will be available to use.

Meeting point

The start line is situated within the centre field of the race course and will be clearly visible from the car park and pedestrian entrances

Parking (including dedicated blue badge spaces) are available within the race course on event day though please arrive early via the New Crane Street entrance as road closures will be in affect from 8.30am.

Motorists are also able to drop off passengers at the New Crane Street entrance which will be monitored by a steward.

Various bus services drop-off at Black Friars which is a 7 minute walk to the venue, (please enquire with your local provider) and Chester Train Station is a 20 minute walk to the venue.

All vehicles must access the venue via New Crane Street but there is also pedestrian access via steps on Nun Street. Please see travel information section for detail on blue badge parking.

The start and finish areas are both on the same grass field but are within approximately 50m of each other and on flat ground.

Please read the course information section regarding the terrain and uphill sections to decide whether you feel this is a suitable course; it has been deemed 'not suitable for wheelchair users' by an independent body.
