The Southend-on-Sea route starts and finishes in the Garon Park showground area with a two lap route taking in the Cricket ground as well. The route is relatively flat but is on grass which can be uneven and soft when the weather is poor.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as and when needed.
The start line is on the Garon Park showground area, in the event site which backs onto the netball courts and is ajacent to the multipurpose pitches.
There is limited car parking at Garon Park so we ask that participants utilise local transport links where possible.
You can find information on a bus service that runs to the Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre from Southend Town Centre, which is a short walk from Garon Park Showground here: https://www.arrivabus.co.uk/herts-and-essex/services/6---garon-park---southend-town-centre/
First Bus also operate a service to Garon Park – see timetables at www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/
The event site and the majority of this two lap couse is entirely on grass which can get soft underfoot in the event of poor weather. Some wheelchair users who have assistance may want to take part, but it is a challenging surface and we'd like to make participants aware that the ground is uneven and can be very hard going, especially if the ground is wet.
Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19. Please refer to the section ‘ how we are keeping you safe’ https://raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/your-safety for further updates.
