Course information

The Bury St Edmunds route is around Nowton Park with its much loved central avenue, artistic sculptures and beautiful landscapes. Featuring a mix of terrain across the rich natural habitat, the route is described as cross country so we do ask participants to watch their step.

Meeting point

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day.  Additional start times may become available as and when needed.

The start line is within the avenue of trees next to the park cafe.

Free car parking is available at the venue, but please note, this will be on grass.  Accessible car parking is located in the main hardstanding car park.  Alternatively catch the number 852 bus to the Nowton Estate bus stop which is a 15 minute walk away from the venue.  The nearest train station is Bury St Edmunds however please note that the venue is a 45 minute walk away.

Dogs allowed
Not suitable for pushchairs
Not wheelchair accessible
No bag drop
No showers

The route is entirely on grass.  It is not particularly hilly, but due to the nature of the venue the ground is uneven and can be soft and get rutted in damp weather.  Rabbit holes can appear overnight, although we endeavour to fill or route around every one that we find when setting up our course.  For these reasons we don’t feel that this course is wheelchair accessible.  Anyone wanting to use a wheelchair or mobility scooter is encouraged to undertake an assessment of the terrain before doing so.  On the day there will be accessible parking located in the main hardstanding car park.

Supporter / spectator access

Inviting your friends and family to support you on the day is a great idea, they can share in the joy with you as you cross the finish line and ring the bell. They can also help you with those important things, like holding your belongings whilst you walk, jog or run around the course!

Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19.  We will update on this nearer the time.
