Race for Life Pretty Muddy Kids is our brilliant muddy obstacle course just for the little ones. They can take on the obstacles, crawl through the mud pit and have fun with friends, all the while helping raise valuable funds for life-saving research.

Please note, all children taking part must be at least 1.2m tall on day of event.

Meeting point

The meeting point and start line is in Riverside Park, across from the Splash Pad and play park. Please listen out for your group time to be called to the stage for your warm-up.

There is limited parking at this event so please car share or use public transport where possible. Parking is available in the Riverside car park (opposite Emirates Riverside) or in the Riverside Park car park. Please note, you will have to pay and display in these car parks. The start line is a 20 minute walk from the city centre and approximately 20 minutes from Chester-Le-Street train station. There are a number of bus services that stop at Riverside Park. The Traveline North East website can help you plan your journey.

Course information

The Chester-Le-Street course is mainly flat and takes you through Riverside Park, along the River Wear and past Emirates Riverside, the home of Durham County Cricket Club. There are lots of fun and muddy obstacles along the way to get you ‘pretty muddy’.

All of our Pretty Muddy Kids events are approximately 5km. Adults accompanying children will run alongside the course but will not be allowed to take part on the obstacles.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of this the obstacles in this event, it is unsuitable for wheelchair users.

Supporter / spectator access

Don’t forget to bring your friends and family along to support you. The course is completely open to spectators so there are lots of opportunity to see you in action on the obstacles, within walking distance from the start and finish lines.
