The Bath 10k route winds itself around the park, Royal Avenue, and surrounding areas. This is a two lap course which gives spectators the opportunity to move around the course to watch runners on multiple occasions. The terrain is varied but mostly on paved paths with some grass areas and a few hilly sections. Central and picturesque, this is a venue with ample space and opportunity for families to spectate and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of Race for Life.
The start line is on Royal Victoria Park in the middle of Royal Avenue. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.
There is no official car park for this event, however Charlotte Street Car Park (Pay & Display) is situated a close walk away, other city centre car parks can be used and there's also Park & Ride.
Bath Park & Ride services open up earlier than usual to support Race for Life. The first bus from all sites will be at 7.30am and buses operate every 15 minutes throughout the day up to 6.00pm. From Newbridge Park & Ride site, service 21 stops at Park Lane which is at the corner of Royal Victoria Park. Return buses stop on the opposite side of Upper Bristol Road. Find out more details on all the Bath P&R services at http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/services/parking-and-travel/park-and-ride. We are grateful to First and the Bath Park & Ride for their support in operating extended hours on race day.
Road closures and car parking suspension will be in place for the event. Car parking will be suspended on Royal Avenue Saturday and all day Sunday so it will be clear and safe for the event route. Marlborough Road and Royal Avenue will be closed in advance and during the event too. Please see advance warnings around the park and diversions on the day.
The majority of the route is on the road and pathways. However there is a reasonably steep short hill section next to the allotments and a gentle incline around Royal Victoria Park so wheelchair users may require assistance.
Inviting your friends and family to support you on the day is a great idea, they can share in the joy with you as you cross the finish line and ring the bell. They can also help you with those important things, like holding your belongings whilst you walk, jog or run round the course!
Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19. We will update on this nearer the time.
