The Durham course starts in St Leonard’s Playing fields before passing by County Hall. The route then loops around Aykley Heads Woods where you will get stunning views of the city. If you’re lucky you may even see some of the resident deer when you pass through the Aykley Woods nature reserve.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.
There is parking available at County Hall. However, to look after our environment, we encourage you to car share or take public transport where possible. Durham train station is approximately a 10 minute walk from the start line and there are a number of bus services that stop at County Hall. The Traveline North East website can help you plan your journey.
Unfortunately, due to the steep hills and the course running on muddy and grassy paths, this event is unsuitable for wheelchair users.
Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19. Please refer to the section ‘ how we are keeping you safe’ https://raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/your-safety for further updates.
