Course information

The Welwyn and Hatfield route is set within the grounds of the beautiful Stanborough Park and is on a mixture of cross-country terrain and paved pathways. As well as some bumpy sections, it includes a couple of challenging uphill and downhill slopes.

There will not be any water refill stations along the course so if you require water during the event, please remember to bring your own reusable water bottle already filled up. A ScottishPower water refill station will be available to use at the finish.

Please arrive 30 to 45 mins before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time.

Our courses have been measured with a measuring wheel. This is the most accurate measurement method and may not always correspond with digital tracking apps and watches.

Meeting point

The start line is on the south side of the park, behind the boating lake reception.

If using what3words, enter ///nets.wing.drag in the free app, to find the exact starting point.

Limited parking will be available in the south and north Stanborough Park car parks. Please be aware that parking fees apply here and cameras will be in operation. Follow the instructions on the payment machines as to how to activate the Race for Life discounted parking rate.

Please allow plenty of time to access the car parks as Stanborough Road will be closed from around 15 minutes prior to the start of the event and from this time, you will have to follow a long diversion to be able to access the car parks if approaching from the Gosling Sports Park end of the road.

Parking

Due to the mixed terrain and a number of inclines and declines, this event is deemed unsuitable for wheelchair users. For 2023, we have had to change the course to incorporate the field above the north car park and splash park, which is particularly steep.

For spectators, there will be blue badge parking available in the south car park. Please be aware that the event site is on grass.

The nearby Stevenage Race for Life is deemed suitable for wheelchair users.

If you require any further information on the accessibility of a Race for Life event or wish to bring a carer/assistant to accompany you or if you need to bring a guide runner, please contact our Supporter Hotline on 0300 123 0770 and press 1 when prompted (Opening hours are 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday) or email us at raceforlife@cancer.org.uk .
