Race for Life Pretty Muddy Kids is our brilliant muddy obstacle course just for the little ones. They can take on the obstacles, crawl through the mud pit and have fun with friends, all the while helping raise valuable funds for life-saving research.

Please note, all children taking part must be at least 1.2m tall on day of event.

Meeting point

The meeting point/start line is within one of the open fields on The Stray; near where Oatland Drive meets Slingsby Walk. This is clearly visible when approaching the Stray from any direction.

Please remember to bring your own water bottle already filled as there will be no bottled water provided at events. ScottishPower water refill stations will be available to use.

Pedestrians: There are no specific entrance points to the open fields of The Stray but please be vigilant as you may cross the course at multiple points on your way to the meeting point/start line.

General event parking: General car parking is not available at this venue. Please use the below link for further information on nearby public parking

Blue badge parking: Please use the Bede House entrance into St. Aidan's School on Oatland's Drive . A steward will direct you to the blue badge car park area. Please adhere to the 5mph restrictions at all times.

Drop-offs: Oatlands Drive and Stray Rein will both be closed on event day. The surrounding streets are permit holder parking only but can be used to drop-off event attendees. Please do so in a safe manner, being mindful of traffic and local residents.

Public transport: The Stray is accessible via public transport. Please use the below link to check availability

Course information

Our 5k Pretty Muddy Kids event offers a flat, single lap route around The Stray. The terrain is a mixture of grass and paths.

There are a mixture of obstacles along the way to climb over and under, crawl through and slide down. These are designed to be suitable for kids of all levels of fitness and experience but they can conquer as many or as little as they feel comfortable with. Adults accompanying children can run alongside the course but will not be allowed to take part in the obstacles for health and safety reasons. 

Unfortunately this event cannot accomodate wheelchair users, pushchairs or dogs. Please see our other events for accessibility

Remember, this event includes mud so bring a towel and change of clothes for the way home!

Please arrive 15 to 20minis before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time

If spectating, the event site is mostly on flat grass, so those with accessibility issues may require assistance on the uneven surfaces or in poor weather conditions.
