Course information
The Wakefield 5k is a single-lap route through Thornes Park. The route is undulating in parts and the terrain is a mix of roads, woodland footpaths and grass.
Meeting point
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.
The start line is on the field that runs parallel to Lawefield Lane. If using the Horbury Road entrance then it is the first field on the left after the car park and child’s play area.
Car parking is not available at this event; please use local car parks or public transport. More details can be found at https://www.wymetro.com/plan-a-journey/
Please car share where possible and allow extra time for your journey, as the roads around the venue can become congested.
Disabled parking is available on site, please show your blue badge to the steward at the entrance for access.

Unfortunately we would not recommend this as a wheelchair and pushchair friendly route due to the hills and terrain.
Supporter / spectator access
Inviting your friends and family to support you on the day is a great idea, they can share in the joy with you as you cross the finish line and ring the bell. They can also help you with those important things, like holding your belongings whilst you walk, jog or run round the course!
Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19. We will update on this nearer the time.
