The Barnsley 5k course is a 2.5k double lap route through the well maintained and picturesque grounds of Locke Park. The route starts and finishes near the Keresforth Hall Road entrance, and is mainly on tarmac pathways which are undulating in places. There are also some small grass areas which may become boggy in poor weather conditions.
Please bring a reusable water bottle with you if you require water during the event, as there will only be water available at the finish.
The meeting point and start line is situated in the field closest to the car park off Keresforth Hall Road. The finish line will also be within the similar vacinity.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.
There is no designated car park for this event, however we would recommend using the Town Centre Pay & Display Car Parks which are approximately 10-15 minutes walk to the park. Please therefore allow enough time to get parked up and walk down before your event start time.
A limited number of disabled parking spaces will be available in the Keresforth Hall Road Car Park, which would also be a recommended drop off area if required. As there are only limited spaces in this Car Park, please note this will be available for disabled parking only.
The nearest train station is Barnsley Interchange, and the nearest buses run to Kingstone along Park Road and Keresforth Hall Road.
We would recommend that this event is wheelchair accessible with assistance. The event site is on grass as well as a small proportion of the course route, but the majority of the course is on tarmac paths. These however are undulating so assistance would be advised.
Limited Disabled Parking is available at the Keresforth Hall Road Car Park, close to the start and finish line.
