The Gateshead course weaves through the beautiful and historical grounds of Saltwell Park, taking in the lake, Saltwell Towers and the various ornamental gardens and features. The route is entirely contained within the park and is predominantly on paths, with a lap of the main event field at the start and end of the run. The route has several inclines and a sharp descent. The main event site is on grass so can be uneven and may be slightly muddy underfoot depending on recent weather.
Please bring a reusable water bottle with you if you require water during the event, as there will only be water available at the finish.
The start line is located on the Northern Fields near the children's play area and the lake.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.
There are a number of bus services that stop just a short walk from Saltwell Park.
No event car parking is provided however nearby public car parks include Gateshead Civic Centre and Cross Keys Lane. Please note that a large section of Lowrey’s Lane car park will be closed on Sunday 26th September 2021 with a road closure in place on the bottom section of Lowrey’s Lane.
We recommend this event as suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs with assistance due to the gradient of some inclines, a sharp descent and a lap around the event field at the start and end of the course. The event site, start and end of the course is on uneven grass with an incline which could make conditions difficult in bad weather.
Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19.
