This single lap course begins on the Town Moor, weaves through Exhibition Park and continues along the Great North Road before entering the Town Moor once again. A small section runs along Grandstand Road before participants return to the event site on the Town Moor. The Newcastle route is a flat course on mixed terrain including paths, road and some small sections on grass. The main event site is on grass so may be slightly muddy underfoot depending on recent weather conditions.
Please bring a reusable water bottle with you if you require water during the event, as there will only be water available at the finish.
The start and finish lines are situated within the Town Moor on the field adjacent to the Claremont Road bridge and Exhibition Park.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.
No event parking is available at this venue. Please use city centre car parks or public transport where possible. Limited roadside parking is available on Claremont Road.
This event is recommended as suitable for wheelchair users with assistance due to terrain that can be very difficult to navigate. The majority of the course utilises the paths of the Town Moor which are surfaced with large stones, thus creating long sections of uneven terrain. The main event site and some small sections of course are on grass so may be slightly muddy underfoot depending on recent weather conditions. The course can be adapted to avoid grass sections.
Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19. Please refer to the section ‘ how we are keeping you safe’ https://raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/your-safety for further updates.
