The Oxford route begins in the scenic University Parks, where you will head out onto the historic streets of Oxford. The entire route is flat and mainly on pathways or road. Heading down Longwall Street, High Street, then proceeding under the Bridge of Sighs and along Parks Road, you will then re-enter the Park at Norham Gardens and finish your event next to the cricket pavillion.
The start and finish area is in University Parks, next to the cricket pavillion.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.
There is no parking available at University Parks, except for blue badge holders (access via South Parks Road), and parking in the city centre is limited. Therefore, we suggest using the city’s Park & Ride network, details of which can be found on the Oxford Bus Company website. They are kindly putting on additional services on the day of the event. The 300 and 500 services pass closest to University Parks, but you can also use the 400 service and walk from the High Street.
Numerous other bus routes service the city centre and you can find more information (including maps and timetables) here.
Road closures for the event will be in place from 9am, so please ensure that you leave plenty of time for your journey - the event will start at 10am prompt.
This event is deemed suitable for wheelchairs with assistance. The course is entirely on paths and closed roads but the event site is on grass, which can become boggy in poor weather conditions. There is a limited amount of blue badge parking available at University Park's South Lodge on South Parks Road.
If you require any further information on the accessibility of a Race for Life event, or wish to bring a carer/helper to accompany you, please contact our Supporter Hotline on 0300 123 0770 and press 1 when prompted (Opening hours are 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday) or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Inviting your friends and family to support you on the day is a great idea, they can share in the joy with you as you cross the finish line and ring the bell. They can also help you with those important things, like holding your belongings whilst you walk, jog or run around the course!
Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19. Please refer to the section ‘ how we are keeping you safe’ https://raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/your-safety for further updates.
