The Oxford 10k route starts by taking the usual 5k route around the park and the City Centre's historic landmarks and then splits off for an extra 5k. The extra 5k distance takes in scenery of the countryside, college sports grounds, riverside and then returns back into University Parks for the finish by the cricket pavillion.
The start and finish area is in University Parks next to the cricket pavillion.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.
There is no parking available at University Parks, except for blue badge holders (access via South Parks Road), and parking in the city centre is limited. Therefore, we suggest using the city’s Park & Ride network, details of which can be found on the Oxford Bus Company website. They are kindly putting on additional services on the day of the event. The 300 and 500 services pass closest to University Parks, but you can also use the 400 service and walk from the High Street.
Numerous other bus routes service the city centre and you can find more information (including maps and timetables) here.
Road closures for the event will be in place from 9am, so please ensure that you leave plenty of time for your journey - the event will start at 10am prompt.
Unfortunately the 10k route is deemed unsuitable for wheelchair users due to the cross-country terrain throughout Marston Road Sports Ground, Hertford College Recreation Ground, Merton College Recreation Ground and St Catherine's College. There is also a steep bridge between these areas and University Parks.
The 5k route is suitable for wheelchair users with assistance, so we recommend searching for this event instead.
If you require any further information on the accessibility of a Race for Life event, or wish to bring a carer/helper to accompany you, please contact our Supporter Hotline on 0300 123 0770 and press 1 when prompted (Opening hours are 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday) or email us at email@example.com
Inviting your friends and family to support you on the day is a great idea, they can share in the joy with you as you cross the finish line and ring the bell. They can also help you with those important things, like holding your belongings whilst you walk, jog or run around the course!
Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19. Please refer to the section ‘ how we are keeping you safe’ https://raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/your-safety for further updates.
