5k Event Chip Timing

We’re trialling chip timing at a small number of 5K events this year, giving participants the choice to be officially timed if they’d like to be.

Which 5K events are included?

Chip timing is available at these five events:

  • Stirling – 03 May 2026

  • London Finsbury Park – 17 May 2026

  • Salisbury – 07 June 2026

  • Ipswich – 21 June 2026

  • Haydock – 28 June 2026

How the chip timing trial works

Before your event

  • You’ll receive your usual fundraising pack with a non‑chipped race number

  • Around 3 weeks before the event, we’ll email you with details about the trial and a link to this webpage.

  • A few days before the event, Results Base (our timing partner) will send you a ‘boarding pass’ QR code to speed up collection on the day.

Don’t worry if you don’t get it — you can still take part.

On the day

  • Arrive 60 minutes before your start time if you want to be chip timed.

  • Head to the Enquiries Marquee to swap your non‑chipped number for a chipped one. (Your Results Base QR code will make this faster, but it’s not essential)

  • If you choose not to be chip timed, simply use the number from your pack.

After you finish

  • You can find your time via the link in your Well Done email or by scanning the QR code on your race number.

  • Results are searchable at: https://results.resultsbase.net/?c=6

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to take part in the trial?

No — chip timing is completely optional.

Can I still get a chipped number if I didn’t receive the emails?

Yes. Just go to the Enquiries marquee on event day.

I entered late — can I still be chip timed?

Yes. If you entered before the Wednesday before your event, you’ll still receive your Results Base email. If you entered after that, you can still collect a chipped number on the day.

What if I’ve lost my pack or don’t have a number to swap?

No problem. Visit the Enquiries Marquee on the day and our team will give you a new number.

Do I need to activate the chip?

No — it’s ready to go.

How does chip timing work?

Timing mats at the start and finish automatically record your time when you cross them so there is no need to do anything apart from pin your number onto your top on the day.
