Course information

The hike starts at the historic harbour at Wells Next the Sea, and covers 23 miles through Holkham, Burnham, and Brancaster, ending at Hunstanton.  It is suitable for experienced hikers, but also particularly ideal for beginners (although it is still important to prepare and train for this distance).  The route offers a mix of settings including sand dunes, forests, high grass ridges, small fishing towns and farm tracks. Come and experience the splendour of the huge East Anglian skies as you pass along this historic coastline.

The route incorporates 3 support points (with refreshments and toilets).  Expected timings for support points to be operational are: 09.00 to 11.00 Support Point 1 (Burnham Overy Staithe Boat House, PE31 8FF); 10.30am to 13:00 Support Point 2/Lunch (White Horse Pub, Brancaster Staithe, PE31 8BY); 12.00 to 15.30 Support Point 3 (Thornham Church, PE36 6NJ); 14.30 to 19.00 finish (Hunstanton).

Meeting point

The meeting point (and finish line) is in Hunstanton at the Cliff Top car park next to the Lighthouse Cafe (PE36 6EL). There is parking available at £7 per vehicle.  Please arrive between 6.30am and 7.30am.  Unlike some of our other Race for Life events, for Race for Life Hike participants are NOT required to arrive an hour before the start time.

Hikers will receive a full Health & Safety Briefing before boarding a coach that will take them to that start at Wells Next to Sea (this journey will take approximately 30 mins).  These coaches will depart every 15 minutes from 6.45am with the last one leaving between 7.30am and 8.00am.

Parking is available at Hunstanton Cliff Top Car Park costing £7 per vehicle for all day parking.  Payment is by cash, via the Parking Operations App using Location Number 706520, or by Text (new customers send the word PARK and your vehicle REGISTRATION NUMBER to 61600).  Coaches are provided to take participants to the start line at Wells Next The Sea harbour, and will depart from Hunstanton approximately every between 6.45am and 7.30am, once the Health and Safety briefing has taken place.
