Distance: Half Marathon
The Half Marathon route is 13.1 miles (or 21k) and follows a scenic course along the wide tarmac paths and tow paths of Lee Valley, skirting beautiful lakes, open countryside and the River Lea. Aside from one steady incline near the mid-point which boasts incredible views across the valley, this course is flat making it a largely gentle route.
A small section of the course runs along the roadside, with a few marshalled crossings. A popular venue for dog-walkers and members of the public, there will be other park users around to cheer you on. This is not a traditional city centre road-race half marathon but instead offers the rare opportunity to take part in a half marathon event in stunning, tranquil park surroundings.
There will be pacers on the day to support you and help you achieve your desired time. Water and fuel will be available at miles 3.5, 6.5 and 8, with an additional water station at 10.5 miles. There will also be toilets on the course.
The start line is located in the Showground area of the River Lee Country Park. This is to the east of Lee Valley White Water Centre, just off the A121 Station Road.
If you are driving to the venue, please put postcode EN9 1AA into your SatNav and follow signage onto the event site. Do not use the entrance to the Lee Valley White Water Centre (our entrance gate is slightly further along Station Road). Please car share where possible.
Within walking distance of the event site, the nearest train stations are: Theobalds Grove (20 minutes), Waltham Cross (15 minutes) and Cheshunt (20 minutes).
Don’t forget to bring your friends and family along to support you – there is a great atmosphere on the day! They can stroll around the stalls for face painting, refreshments and other family-friendly activities.
