Life is worth Racing for. Enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life and raise money for life-saving cancer research.
Race for Life 5k is a great first challenge, no matter your age or fitness level. Go solo and join hundreds of people on the day, or sign up as a group with friends and family. There's no pressure to finish in a certain time, so walk, jog or run at your own pace and enjoy the atmosphere! However you take part, you're helping to beat cancer.
The start and finish are on grass The 5k route is a double lap. The course is a mixture of grass and rubber pathways.

By car
General Event Parking: Parking is FOC and located in Event Over Flow Car Park/ Redgra Playing Fields, Eastern Avenue, SS2 4FA which is a short walk to Garon Park showground. Please note that parking is limited so we ask that participants utilise local transport links where possible.
Drop Offs: Participants can be dropped off in the Leisure Centre Car Park.
Blue Badge Parking: Blue badge parking is available in the Leisure Centre Car Park, SS2 4FA which is a short walk to Garon Park showground. Please note that this is separate from the designated participant/spectator parking area.
Volunteer Parking: This is in the Leisure Centre Car Park.
Electric Charging points: There are none available at this event. The closest charging point is Osprey charging Point on Priory Crescent which is 1 mile away.
Public transport and pedestrians:
Pedestrians: Access the main event site via the internal road, just after Garon Park/Leisure centre car park. Take the path to the right hand side, go past the 3G football pitches and straight ahead towards the showground which will be on your right hand side.
Bus: First Bus provide a number of services which drop off on Eastern Avenue which is a 5 minute walk to the main event site. Find bus timetables here.
Train: Nearest train station is Southend Central which is 3 miles to the main event site.
Cycling & Bike Racks: There are 16 bike racks available near the Garon Park entrance. Bike locks can be hired from the Pitch side Café.

Event Site:
The start and finish area is on grass, which is flat and firm underfoot. In wet weather, the ground may become soft or slippery.
Course:
The route includes grass and rubber pathways and is a double lap, with possible congestion at certain points.
In poor weather, grass may become soft & slippery, which could increase the level of assistance required.
Parking:
Blue Badge parking is available, approximately 150m from the event site. See Travel Information for further details.
