Life is worth Racing for. Enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life and raise money for life-saving cancer research.

About the 10k event

Race for Life 10k is a more challenging event, but without any pressure. Take it at your own pace and enjoy the atmosphere, or push yourself a little more. The events are chip-timed, so you can find out if you’ve beaten your personal best! Sign up as a group with friends and family, or go solo and join hundreds of people on the day. However you take part, you’re helping to beat cancer.

Course information

The start and finish is on the grass. The course is on road and paved paths with some grass areas within Royal Victoria Park and Royal Crescent and some mild incline area's along some sections of the route. The 10k course is two laps of the 5k route.

Once you sign up for your Race for Life event, you'll receive an email with all the need-to-know details to help you feel fully prepared for the day.

Meeting point

The start line is on the gravel path, in central Royal Victoria Park in close proximity to the Botanical Gardens.

The finish line is the grass, in lower central Royal Victoria Park in close proximity to the Botanical Gardens & Fish Pond.

By car:
General Event Parking:
There is no designated car park for this event.

We advise using local city centre parks or Bath Park & Ride services for the event, the closest public pay and display car park is Charlotte Street Car Park, BA1 2NE a 6min walk to the event site. Find out more details on all the Bath Park & Ride services on their website here..

Road closures and car parking suspension will be in place for the event. Car parking will be suspended on Royal Avenue from 7pm on Saturday and all-day Sunday so it will be clear and safe for the course route.

The Following road closures will be in place on the event day:
Royal Avenue - From its junction with Queens Parade Place to its junction with Marlborough Buildings/Marlborough Lane. Between 19:30 hours on Saturday and 14:00 hours on Sunday.

Marlborough Lane - From its junction with Upper Bristol Road to its junction with Royal Avenue/Marlborough Buildings.

Marlborough Buildings - From its junction with Weston Road to its junction with Royal Avenue/Marlborough Lane - access to residents and businesses only.

Cow Lane – From its junction with Marlborough Buildings to its junction Royal Victoria Park.  Please see advance warning signs around the park and diversions on the day.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             
Please check whether your vehicle will be charged in Bath's Clean Air Zone and pay the charge here. All you need is your vehicle registration number.

Drop Offs: Participants could be dropped off safely on Park Lane or Weston Road to then use one of the many park entrances available.

Blue Badge Parking: Royal Victoria Park and Royal Avenue will be closed for parking/access during the event, the closest parking available for Blue Badge Holders would be the closest public pay and display car park which is Charlotte Street Car Park, a 6min walk to the event site.

Charlotte Street Car Park (BA1 2NE): The most convenient parking for Royal Victoria Park, located on the park's eastern side.

On-Street Parking: Bath Controlled Parking Zones (RPZ) allow Blue Badge holders to park in resident/shared bays.

Yellow Lines: You can park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours, provided you display a valid Blue Badge and time clock, and do not cause an obstruction or ignore loading restrictions, suggested roads  Upper Bristol Road, Park Lane or Weston Road.

Important Information
Charges: Charges apply to Blue Badge holders in most Bath car parks, including Charlotte Street, 7 days a week.

Restrictions: Do not park where yellow kerb dashes indicate loading restrictions are in force.

Alternative: Bath Park & Ride sites offer accessible parking, though charges apply if not using the bus

Electric Charging points: The nearest public electric car charging points to the event site are via Mi Permit at Charlotte Street car park, Bath. Electric vehicle chargers are available in two areas of this car park. Vehicles must be plugged in, charging and have an active parking stay when using these bays.

Bus: These Bus lines stop near Royal Victoria Park, Bath:19, A4, X39; The nearest stations to Royal Victoria Park, Bath are:
Comfortable Place, Kingsmead is 34 meters away, 1 min walk.
Northampton Street, Lansdown is 338 meters away, 5 min walk.
Oldfield Park is 429 meters away, 6 min walk.
Park Lane, Lower Weston is 459 meters away, 6 min walk.

Train: These Train lines stop near Royal Victoria Park, Bath: Great Western Railway. The nearest train station to Royal Victoria Park, Bath in Bath And North East Somerset is Oldfield Park. It’s a 6 min walk away.

Cycling & Bike Racks: Bath & North East Somerset Council have installed more cycle parking across the city. You can find cycle parking available within Royal Victoria Park by using what3words ///cycles.hush.grass

Dott e-scooters and e-bikes: are available across Bath. 

The bike and scooter both come with a phone holder with built-in wireless charging, GPS tracking, and an integrated lock. Users must be 18+ and have a full or provisional driving licence to use an e-scooter, and must be 16+ to use an e-bike.

You'll be able to rent the e-bikes and e-scooters through the Dott app, available on iOS and Android. You can only end your ride by leaving your bike or scooter in a parking bay, which are shown on the map in the app, and lock it.

Normal Pay-as-you-Go pricing will be £1 to unlock the bike and then 16p per minute.

And for Pay-as-you-Go rides, University students and staff are eligible for a 20% discount through the Dott Scholars Scheme.

Dott also has a range of passes, including the 2 Rides Pass for two 20-minute rides in a day, Dott Flex for 30 days of unlimited 20-minute rides for £2 each, and Dott Pro for 30 days of unlimited 20-minute rides for £1 each.

Event Site:
The start and finish areas are on grass/gravel, which is uneven and firm/soft underfoot. In wet weather, the ground may become soft or muddy.

Course:
The route includes tarmac/hardstanding/grass/gravel and is a double lap, with possible congestion within the park.
In poor weather, grass/tarmac may become muddy/soft/slippery, which could increase the level of assistance required.

There are also inclines at Cow Lane/ Royal Victoria Park, with a maximum gradient of 1.15, with an overall ascent of 88m.
