Life is worth Racing for. Enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life and raise money for life-saving cancer research.
Race for Life 5k is a great first challenge, no matter your age or fitness level. Go solo and join hundreds of people on the day, or sign up as a group with friends and family. There's no pressure to finish in a certain time, so walk, jog or run at your own pace and enjoy the atmosphere! However you take part, you're helping to beat cancer.
The start and finish are on grass. The route is mainly on sea wall paths and roads. It is mostly flat with spectacular views along the seafront.

The start line and finish area is within Hampton Pier Recreation Ground.

By car:
General Event Parking: There is no specific parking for participants at this event. All of the surrounding roads are free to park. There will be road closures affecting Hampton Pier Avenue, Western Esplanade, Chamberlain Drive, West Cliff Drive and Swalecliffe Avenue from 09:45am-11:00am so please consider this when making your plans.
Drop Offs: There is no specific drop off area for this event.
Blue Badge Parking: There is blue badge parking available within Swalecliffe Avenue Car Park. If you let the stewards know on arrival at the entrance to Swalecliffe Drive they will guide you through.
Volunteer Parking: Parking instructions for volunteers arriving by car will be communicated by the event manager nearer the time.
Electric Charging points: The closest electric charging points are at Lidl Herne Bay CT6 8NZ 0.9 miles or Central Parade CT6 5JQ 0.8 miles.
Public transport and pedestrians:
Pedestrians: You can access the event site off Hampton Pier Avenue via Swalecliffe Avenue or you can walk straight in from the sea wall if walking from Hampton/Herne Bay or Whitstable.
Train: The closest train station is Herne Bay which is 1 mile (approx. 20 min walk) to the event site.
Bus: There are a number of bus routes that drop outside the Hampton Inn.
Cycling & Bike Racks: There are none available at this event.

This event is deemed wheelchair accessible with assistance. There are two steep inclines and declines which can be avoided by following the relevant accessible signage. There will be marshals in position to direct accordingly. Please note that this accessible diversion may be slightly shorter in distance.
Event Site:
The start and finish areas are on tarmac, which is flat and firm underfoot.
Course:
The route is 90% hard standing with just 2 small sections on grass.
In poor weather, the grass may become soft, which could increase the level of assistance required.
