Life is worth Racing for. Enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life and raise money for life-saving cancer research.
Race for Life 5k is a great first challenge, no matter your age or fitness level. Go solo and join hundreds of people on the day, or sign up as a group with friends and family. There's no pressure to finish in a certain time, so walk, jog or run at your own pace and enjoy the atmosphere! However you take part, you're helping to beat cancer.
The course is on hardstanding pavement and roads along the coastline and cycle route of Afon Rheidol.
For 2026 we’re adding a fresh twist by running the historic route in reverse! This iconic road‑closed event begins on the Promenade by the Richmond Hotel, heads towards Constitution Hill, then along Marine Terrace past the castle to the Marina. At Maesyrafon Car Park, 5K runners make their U‑turn before retracing the route, enjoying a scenic boardwalk section and finishing in style at the bandstand.

Once you sign up for your Race for Life event, you'll receive an email with all the need-to-know details to help you feel fully prepared for the day.
The start and finish lines are on the promenade along Marine Terrace, outside the bandstand.

For 2026 we’re enhancing the atmosphere with a refreshed event site and meeting points. Runners will start at the stage opposite the Richmond Hotel and finish on the Promenade ahead of the Bandstand. To accommodate the new route, sections of Marine Terrace from Terrace Road to Pier Street will be closed, creating a vibrant race experience.
To collect your race number on the day or for any enquiries please come and find us in the Bandstand.

Road Closures: Sunday 10th May
As part of the new route for the 2026 event, roads will be able to re-open earlier than in previous years, helping to minimise disruption for residents and businesses.
