About the 5k event

Race for Life 5k is a great first challenge, no matter your age or fitness level. Go solo and join hundreds of people on the day, or sign up as a group with friends and family. There's no pressure to finish in a certain time, so walk, jog or run at your own pace and enjoy the atmosphere! However you take part, you're helping to beat cancer.

Course information

The start and finish are on grass. The course boasts beautiful sea views along the top of The Leas. This flat course is perfect for everyone and there are plenty of viewing locations along the route.

Travel information

By car:
General Event Parking:
There isn’t any specific parking for this event. Please use public transport where possible. Please also be aware that road closures will affect Cliff Road, Dixwell Road, Metropole Road West, Metropole Road East and The Leas from 10:00am- 1:00pm.

Drop Offs: There is no specific drop off area for this event.

Blue Badge Parking: There will be a number of blue badge spaces allocated in front of The Grand hotel along The Leas. Please inform our stewards on arrival and they will direct you.


Volunteer Parking: To be sent direct from event manager.

Electric Charging points: Best Western Hotel CT20 2HR 0.2 miles from event site. Civic Centre CT20 2QY 0.8 miles from event site.

Public transport and pedestrians:
Pedestrians:
You can access the event site from any direction of The Leas as it is an open area with no specific entrance point. If you head towards The Grand hotel the event site is directly in front.

Bus: The 10A bus drops at the top of Metropole East.

Train: Folkestone West and Folkestone Central are both 1 mile (20 min walk) to the event site.

Cycling & Bike Racks: Unfortunately there are no specific bike racks available along The Leas.

This course is deemed wheelchair accessible with assistance.

We aim for maximum accessibility at our events. Our contact centre and on-site team are ready to assist with any needs or questions you may have.

Sunflower wristbands are available at the enquiries marquee, and our Event Managers are trained Dementia Friends.

A QR code will be available on the main event site to access British Sign Language stage content for those who use BSL.
