Life is worth Racing for. Enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life and raise money for life-saving cancer research.
Race for Life 3k is ideal for families or groups doing their first Race for Life. It's a fun, achievable and an unforgettable day out! Sign up as a group with friends and family, or go solo and join hundreds of people on the day. There's no pressure to finish in a certain time, so walk, jog or run at your own pace and enjoy the atmosphere. However you take part, you're helping to beat cancer.
The Quarry is a beautiful 29-acre park on the bank of the River Severn, known for its open green spaces and the stunning Dingle garden. Our 3km course contains 4 short climbs, each around 200m long. The average gradient of these sections is 5.7%. The course is on a mixuture of well maintained paths and grass. The grass sections can become boggy in wet weather but can be avoided.

The start and finish line is located within the Quarry on the grass field next to the swimming pool.

By car:
General Event Parking: There is no designated parking available for the event. The nearest major car park is Frankwell which is approximately 0.5 miles from the event site, and is free of charge on a Sunday.
Drop Offs: The suitable location for drop offs is by the gate to the park on Victoria Avenue, from here it is less than 100m to the event site.
Blue Badge Parking: The nearest available disabled parking is at Frankwell which is approximately 0.5 miles from the event site, and is free of charge of a Sunday.
Volunteer Parking: There is no dedicated event volunteer parking for this event, the nearest available car park is Frankwell which is approximately 0.5miles from the event site, and is free of charge on a Sunday.
Electric Charging points: There are none available at this event.
Public transport and pedestrians:
Pedestrians: The closest entrance to the event site is via Victoria Avenue, however you can use any of the usual entrances to the park.
Bus: Shrewsbury Bus Station is 0.5 miles walk away.
Train: Shrewsbury Railway Station is 0.6 miles from the event site.
Cycling & Bike Racks: There are none available at this event.

We have assessed this route and concluded it is wheelchair accessible with assistance. Please note the average gradient of each hill is 5.7% (1:17).
Sunflower wristbands are available at the enquiries marquee, and our Event Managers are trained Dementia Friends.
