About the 5k event

Race for Life 5k is a great first challenge, no matter your age or fitness level. Go solo and join hundreds of people on the day, or sign up as a group with friends and family. There's no pressure to finish in a certain time, so walk, jog or run at your own pace and enjoy the atmosphere! However you take part, you're helping to beat cancer.

Course information

The start and finish are on the beach. The course is fairly flat and on a mixture of terrain; on the beach, the Promenade and the Grand Pier.

Travel information

By car:
General Event Parking:
There is no parking for participants on the event site itself. There is plenty of parking available either on Marine Parade or Royal Sands Beach car park, which is about a 5-10 minute walk from the event. Some charges might apply.

Drop Offs: On Marine Parade alongside the event site - found between The Tropicana and REVO Kitchen.

Blue Badge Parking: Marine Parade which is located next to the seafront.

Volunteer Parking: There is plenty of parking available either on Marine Parade or Royal Sands Beach car park, which is about a 5-10 minute walk from the event. Some charges might apply.

Electric Charging points: There are none available at this event, the closest charging points to the event site are located at Carlton Street Car Park.

Public transport and pedestrians:
Pedestrians:
Participants can locate the event site between The Tropicana and REVO Kitchen. Access is via a sloping slipway from tarmac onto sand.

Bus: Weston Bus Interchange is an 8 minute walk from the start/finish area. Bus stop MM is located on Marine Parade near the start/finish area and a number of buses stop there including the First Bus X1 service.

Train: Weston-super-Mare train station is a 15 minute walk from the start/finish area and has a taxi rank outside.

Cycling & Bike Racks: The nearest cycle parking is just outside the Tropicana at W3W:///online.both.bind

This event is not wheelchair accessible. Alternative accessible with assistance events nearby include Bristol 5k & 10k and Taunton 3k,5k & 10k.

Event Site:
Start and finish areas are on sand, which is uneven and soft underfoot. In wet weather, ground conditions may become softer.

Course:
The route includes tarmac, hardstanding, sand and wood. In poor weather, sand and wood sections may become muddy, soft or slippery, increasing the level of assistance required.

Parking:
Blue Badge parking is available, approximately 50m from the event site on tarmac. See
