About the 3k event

Race for Life 3k is ideal for families or groups doing their first Race for Life. It's a fun, achievable and an unforgettable day out! Sign up as a group with friends and family, or go solo and join hundreds of people on the day. There's no pressure to finish in a certain time, so walk, jog or run at your own pace and enjoy the atmosphere. However you take part, you're helping to beat cancer.

Course information

The start and finish are entirely on grass. The event site is on grass which is predominantly flat, however it can be uneven.

The course is a single lap route, predominantly on grass. It is mostly flat but there are some slight uphill and downhill gradients.

Once you sign up for your Race for Life event, you'll receive an email with all the need-to-know details to help you feel fully prepared for the day.

Meeting point

The start and finish lines are located within the park of Town Fields, on the playing fields in front of the Pavillion, near the basketball court.

Travel information

By car:
General Event Parking: 
There is no designated parking available for the event. There is limited free parking on offer on the streets surrounding Town Fields, particularly Town Moor Avenue and Bennetthorpe.

Drop Offs: Motorists are able to drop off passengers at the layby on Thorne Road. The journey from this entrance to the event site is a 250m walk on a combination of tarmac path and grass.

Blue Badge Parking: Disabled access and drop off point would be recommended at the lay-by on Thorne Road. The journey from this entrance to the event site is a 250m walk on a combination of tarmac path and grass. There is limited free parking on offer on the streets surrounding Town Fields, with spaces available adjacent to the nearby entrances for blue badge holders on Town Moor Avenue.

Volunteer Parking: There is no designated volunteer parking available for the event. There is limited free parking on offer on the streets surrounding Town Fields.

Electric Charging points: The closest car charging point to the event site is the EB Charging Station on Chamber Road, DN1 3BU

Public transport and pedestrians:
Pedestrians:
The closest entrance to the event site is from Town Moor Avenue. It can also be reached easily from all entrances to Town Fields and then by following the paths towards the pavilion.

Bus: There are a number of buses that run along Thorne Road, Town Moor Avenue and Bennetthorpe, all of which are accessible to Town Fields. Plan your journey here.

Train: The nearest train station is Doncaster, which is 1 mile from the venue.

We have assessed this route and concluded it is wheelchair accessible with assistance.

We aim for maximum accessibility at our events. Our contact centre and on-site team are ready to assist with any needs or questions you may have.

Sunflower wristbands are available at the enquiries marquee, and our Event Managers are trained Dementia Friends.

A QR code will be available on the main event site to access British Sign Language stage content for those who use BSL.
