About the 5k event
The 5k is an achievable distance and a good first challenge for most people. At just over 3 miles it can take about an hour to walk on average, but there's no pressure to finish in a certain time. Go at your own pace to help fund life-saving cancer research.

Event details
The start and finish can be found on the gravel football pitches just off The Avenue (A205) behind Mount Pond.

Pedestrians: Please enter the common via any of the park entrances and head towards the The Avenue (A205) side of the common.
General Event Parking: There is no designated event parking, we advise you come via public transport.
Blue Badge Parking: The closest parking can be found on Broomwood Road.
Drop Offs: There are no designated drop off points due to the location of this venue.
Public Transport:
Bus: The nearest bus stop is on Broomwood Road - service G1. Buses also service Clapham Common South Side and Clapham Common North Side.
Train: The nearest train station to the event is Clapham South (0.5 miles). Exit the station and turn left, then turn left onto The Avenue, cross at the third pedestrian crossing and the event site will be just ahead of you.
Other stations surrounding the common are Clapham Common (0.8 miles), Clapham Junction (1.0 miles), Clapham High Street (1.2 miles) and Clapham North (1.3 miles).

The Clapham common course is suitable for wheelchairs with assistance. Please note the course is predominantly on grass and bumpy dirt tracks, but is relatively flat apart from one small section which can be diverted without losing distance.

Bring a water bottle
We’re trying to reduce single-use plastic at Race for Life. Please bring your own reusable water bottle, already filled. We'll provide an ecofriendly water-refill station at the finish that uses as little single-use plastic as possible.
Have the right kit
It’s a good idea to check the weather before your event and dress accordingly. Think breathable sports gear (leggings and shorts are ideal) and well-fitting trainers. For Pretty Muddy, wear something you don’t mind getting dirty.

Be sun smart
Stay sun safe by finding shade when you’re not on the course and covering up with clothes, a hat and sunglasses. On parts you can’t cover, use sunscreen with at least SPF15 and a 4 or 5 star rating. Find out more about being sun smart.

Remember to bring your back sign and Race number which will be sent to you in the post – don’t forget safety pins so you can attach them to you.
