About the 5k event
The 5k is an achievable distance and a good first challenge for most people. At just over 3 miles it can take about an hour to walk on average, but there's no pressure to finish in a certain time. Go at your own pace to help fund life-saving cancer research.

The start and finish are located alongside the lake, between the cafe and the boat hire building.

By car:
General Event Parking: There is no event parking as the Pembury Road car park will be closed. However, there will be a free Park and Ride running from the town hall to Dunorlan Park. Thank you to Arriva (line website https://www.arrivabus.co.uk/) for their ongoing support of Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life at Royal Tunbridge Wells by providing this service.
Blue Badge Parking: Available in the Pembury Road car park, please speak with the steward on the gate on arrival for access.

Drop Offs: There are no designated drop off points due to the location of this venue.
Electric Charging points: The nearest electric charging point is Kent County Council Charging Station - Crescent Rd, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Tunbridge Wells TN1 2LU (0.9 miles)
Public transport and pedestrians:
Pedestrians: Please access the event via the entrance on Pembury Road
Bus: Arriva Bus Route 6 stops just outside the Pembury Road Park entrance, or Route 277 stops a 5-minute walk away in Sherwood Squirrel Way.
Train: The closest train station to the venue is Tunbridge Wells Station, which is a 5-min taxi or 25-min walk to Dunorlan Park.
Cycling & Bike Racks: There are none available at this event.
Unfortunately, this event has been classified as unsuitable for wheelchair users due to the nature of the terrain on the course route, this includes a grass event site and many grassy stretches that cannot be avoided on the course.
We aim for maximum accessibility at our events. Our contact centre and on-site team are ready to assist with any needs or questions you may have.
Additional Support request badges are available, and our Event Managers are trained Dementia Friends.
Bring a water bottle
We’re trying to reduce single-use plastic at Race for Life. Please bring your own reusable water bottle, already filled. We'll provide an ecofriendly water-refill station at the finish that uses as little single-use plastic as possible.
Have the right kit
It’s a good idea to check the weather before your event and dress accordingly. Think breathable sports gear (leggings and shorts are ideal) and well-fitting trainers. For Pretty Muddy, wear something you don’t mind getting dirty.

Be sun smart
Stay sun safe by finding shade when you’re not on the course and covering up with clothes, a hat and sunglasses. On parts you can’t cover, use sunscreen with at least SPF15 and a 4 or 5 star rating. Find out more about being sun smart.

Remember to bring your back sign and Race number which will be sent to you in the post – don’t forget safety pins so you can attach them to you.
