About the 10k event

Looking for more of a challenge without any pressure? Race for Life 10k is for you!
Our 10k events are now chip-timed, so you can find out if you’ve beaten your personal best – while you’re raising funds to help beat cancer.
10k is just over 6 miles. Take it at your own pace or push yourself a little more. Have fun with it and enjoy the atmosphere.

Event details
The event site, start and finish line is in front of Graves Park Animal Farm, near the Rose Garden Café.
Travel by Car : Please use the Cobnar Road entrance . Traffic Management signs will direct cars to the car park which will be situated the playing fields in front of the cricket pavilion.
Blue badge parking: Blue badge parking spaces are available at the animal farm entrance on Hemsworth Road, this car park would be most suited to blue badge holders. Alternatively event parking (including blue badge parking) is available at the Cobnar Road entrance. Please note there is a 3 min walk from the main car park to the event site, this includes walking on a path with a gradual incline
Please adhere to the one way system and 5mph restrictions at all times.
Drop-offs: Participants can be dropped off in the allocated zone on Cobnar Road. A steward will direct you.
Public transport: Graves Park is accessible via public transport and is serviced by multiple bus routes.
Bus Services 20 and 20A provide a service every 10 minutes along Derbyshire Lane and Hemsworth Road

Event Site: The start and finish areas are both on the same grass field in front of the Graves Park Animal Farm entrance. There is a wide and tarmac path running parallel to the event site. If blue badge holders park in the animal farm car park off Hemsworth Road, the event site is easily accessible from the car park.
General event parking will be located in the field in front of the cricket pavilion off Cobnar Road, the journey from this car park to the event site does involve a path with a gradual incline
Course: We have accessed this 5K course and concluded that its is not wheelchair accessible. We do offer a 3K accessible route at this venue on the same day. Please read the course information section and decide whether you feel this is a suitable course for you.

Bring a water bottle
We’re trying to reduce single-use plastic at Race for Life. Please bring your own reusable water bottle, already filled. We'll provide an ecofriendly water-refill station at the finish that uses as little single-use plastic as possible.
Have the right kit
It’s a good idea to check the weather before your event and dress accordingly. Think breathable sports gear (leggings and shorts are ideal) and well-fitting trainers. For Pretty Muddy, wear something you don’t mind getting dirty.

Be sun smart
Stay sun safe by finding shade when you’re not on the course and covering up with clothes, a hat and sunglasses. On parts you can’t cover, use sunscreen with at least SPF15 and a 4 or 5 star rating. Find out more about being sun smart.
Your back sign and race number
Remember to bring your back sign and Race number which will be sent to you in the post – don’t forget safety pins so you can attach them to you.
