Course information

Our 5k event offers a single lap route around the picturesque, award-winning Lister Park, starting and finishing in the field nearest the Oak Lane entrance.

The terrain is predominantly path with just one 50m section across grass. The route includes a 200m uphill stretch but should be suitable for most levels of fitness and experience.

There will not be any water refill stations along the course so if you require water during the event, please remember to bring your own reusable water bottle already filled up. A ScottishPower water refill station will be available to use at the finish.

Please arrive 30 to 45 mins before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time.

Our courses have been measured with a measuring wheel. This is the most accurate measurement method and may not always correspond with digital tracking apps and watches.

Meeting point

The start line is situated in the field nearest the Oak Lane entrance between Cartwright Hall and the Children's Play Area.

If using what3words, enter ///pounds.accent.drum in the free app, to find the exact starting point.

There is no parking within Lister Park on event day as this area forms part of the course. There is ample free parking on offer on the streets surrounding Lister Park, with spaces available adjacent to the nearby entrances for blue badge holders.

Motorists are also able to drop off passengers at the North Park Road entrance which will be monitored by a steward.

Various bus services drop-off along North Park Road, (please enquire with your local provider) and Frizinghall Train Station is 0.5 miles from the venue.

Please read the course information section regarding the terrain and uphill section to decide whether you feel this is a suitable course; it has been deemed 'accessible with assistance' through an assessment. Lister Park is on an incline, so sections of the course are of an uphill/ downhill gradient in places.

There are various access points into Lister Park. The nearest to the start line is the large gate on the corner of Oak Lane. Please see travel information section for detail on blue badge parking. The start and finish areas are both on the same grass field but are within 50m of each other and on flat ground.
