Course information

The Swindon 3k route starts and finishes in the field adjacent to the play area and meanders around Lydiard Park, taking in views of the house and lake. The route then heads out into the surroundings grounds looping around back to the finish area.

There will not be any water refill stations along the course so if you require water during the event, please remember to bring your own reusable water bottle already filled up. You will be able to refill this at the refill station when you finish.

Please arrive 30 to 45 mins before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time.

Our courses have been measured with a measuring wheel. This is the most accurate measurement method and may not always correspond with digital tracking apps and watches.

Meeting point

The start is located in the field next to the play area.

If using what3words, enter ///jetting.incisions.mergers in the free app or use this link, to find the exact starting point.

We will be providing free of charge parking on grass for all participants and spectators within Lydiard Park in a specific area. Please enter the car park via the gate off of Hook Street. You can use the free WhatThreeWords app and enter ///twins.solve.envisage to find the exact location. Note that is not the usual entrance you would use for Lydiard Park. Continue past the Lydiard Park signposted entrance for 300m, where you will see car parking signage and a steward to direct you into the car park.

Normal parking charges will apply to the rest of Lydiard Park, so please ensure you follow the temporary event signage to ensure you do not have to pay.

To access this event parking, please follow signs for Lydiard Park (via Hook Street), not signs for Lydiard House. Parking is not permitted on or via Hay Lane by Lydiard House.

The course starts on grass then moves to trails around the park before heading over the river and up a short, sharp incline into the forest. Here there is some uneven ground and roots to be mindful of. The rest of the route is on grass and trails around the park. The short incline is not wheelchair accessible, however, there is an alternative route which follows the edge of the river. This will be signposted on the day. With those considerations, the course is wheelchair accessible but with assistance.

The start/finish area is also on grass and is approximately 75m from the main Lydiard Park car park, where there is blue badge parking and appropriate drop off points.
