About the 5k event

The 5k is an achievable distance and a good first challenge for most people. At just over 3 miles it can take about an hour to walk on average, but there's no pressure to finish in a certain time. Go at your own pace to help fund life-saving cancer research.

Course information

The start is on The Old Deer Park behind Pools in the Park

The course a loop around the Old Deer Park which is on grass and completely Wheelchair accessible as the area is flat.

The finish is on The Old Deer Park behind Pools in the Park

There will not be any water refill stations along the course so if you require water during the event, please remember to bring your own reusable water bottle already filled up. A Scottish Power water refill station will be available to use at the finish.

Please arrive 30 to 45 mins before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time.

Our courses have been measured with a measuring wheel. This is the most accurate measurement method and may not always match up with fitbits, Strava and Apple watches. Remember to follow the route carefully and don't cut corners as that will alter the distance you cover!

Join forces or go solo

You can take part in any Race for Life event as an individual or a group to raise money for life-saving research. Walk, jog or run together in a group or go solo at your own pace, or lead the way as a Group Leader and get family, friends and colleagues involved! However you choose to get muddy, you’re helping to beat cancer.

Shake off any pre-Race nerves and get moving with our fun warm-up session just before your event.

Meeting point

The meeting point is in Old Deer Park by the tennis courts behind Pools on the Park Leisure Centre.

Travel information

Pedestrians: Access via Pools in the Park Leisure Centre or across the pedestrian bridge over the A316.

General Event Parking: Parking is available in the Old Deer car park on Twickenham Road, A316. Please use the pedestrian bridge to cross over into the event site.

Blue Badge Parking: Available in the Old Deer Park carpark on Twickenham road, A316. Please use the pedestrian bridge to cross over into the event site.

Drop Offs: There's a drop off area in Pools in the Park car park. Please do not use this area for parking.

Train: Richmond Station - 7 minute walk

This event is suitable for wheelchairs users with assistance, the course is on flat grass throughout.
