About the 10k event

Looking for more of a challenge without any pressure? Race for Life 10k is for you! Our 10k events are now chip-timed, so you can find out if you’ve beaten your personal best – while you’re raising funds to help beat cancer. 10k is just over 6 miles. Take it at your own pace or push yourself a little more. Have fun with it and enjoy the atmosphere.

Course information

This is an out and back route, starting and finishing in Rock Park. The first 300m and final 200m are on grass, the rest is mainly on pavements, cycle paths, and paths. The majority of this course is on hard standing.  

The start and finish is on grass within Rock Park at the end of Ladies Mile. 
The course is on a mixture of paved pathways and grass.

Join forces or go solo

You can take part in any Race for Life event as an individual or a group to raise money for life-saving research. Walk, jog or run together in a group or go solo at your own pace, or lead the way as a Group Leader and get family, friends and colleagues involved! However you choose to take part, you’re helping to beat cancer.

Bus: The venue is a short 10 minute walk from the town centre and various bus stations
Train: The nearest train station is Barnstaple Station, which is roughly a 15 minute walk away from the venue, or a quick taxi ride.

This is a figure of eight course, starting and finishing in Rock Park, including a repeated lap section around the park. The first 400m and final 100m are on grass, the rest is mainly on pavements, cycle paths, bridleways and paths. The majority of this course is on hard standing.  

The 10k route is a lap of the 5k route, with the addition of an out and back section approximately half way through the course along the coastal path beyond Museum Square. The start is on grass within Rock Park at the end of Ladies Mile. The course is on a mixture of paved pathways and grass. The finish is on grass at Rock Park.
