Life is worth Racing for. Enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life and raise money for life-saving cancer research.
Pretty Muddy® Kids is a fun-packed muddy obstacle course for children aged 6-12 (over 1.2m tall). The young fundraisers climb, crawl and slide their way around the course at their own pace, accompanied by an adult. The course is approximately 5k which is just over three miles, and there's no pressure to finish in a certain time. Get ready to get muddy on an unforgettable day out.
The Pretty Muddy Bristol route is a primarily flat course with mixed terrain that mostly follows the perimeter of The Downs, taking in amazing views of Avon Gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge. This event has some extra challenges thrown in with some fun obstacles to do together. There are lots of opportunities for supporters to watch the fun at each obstacle and the whole event has a fantastic atmosphere. The 5k Course has an overall ascent of 28m throughout the full 5k course. All of our Pretty Muddy Kids events are approximately 5km. Obstacle layout will vary from venue to venue and adults accompanying children will run alongside the course but will not be allowed to take part on the obstacles.

You can take part in any Race for Life event as an individual or a group to raise money for life-saving research.
Get your friends and family involved and walk, jog or run at your own pace! An adult will need to accompany the child around the course but adults will not be able to go on the obstacles.
However you choose to get muddy, you're helping to beat cancer.

The start line is on the grass area adjacent to Ladies Mile & Stoke Road, in sight of The Water Tower.

Pedestrians: The Downs can be found at the top of Whiteladies Road and is a large green open space, with plenty of access points.
General Event Parking: Parking on The Downs is not permitted. If you arrive early, you may find spaces on the surrounding roads but be aware that road closures are in place on Stoke Road, & Ladies Mile. Stewards will be there on the day to direct you.
Due to the city centre location of the event, we are unable to provide onsite parking so advise using one of the many City Centre car parks, the closest car park to the event site is, Clifton Down Shopping Centre which is accessed from Alma Road.
Bristol Clean Air Zone
Please check whether your vehicle will be charged in Bristol’s Clean Air Zone and pay the charge at www.gov.uk/check-clean-air-zone-charge. All you need is your vehicle registration number.
Please note the following road closures will be in effect for the event (timings will be updated nearer the event):
Stoke Road, Ladies Mile and a Particial one way section on Circular Road.
Blue Badge Parking: Please note there is limited disabled parking on Stoke Road, displaying a Blue Badge & Clock would be nessecary.
Volunteer Parking: Due to the city centre location of the event, we are unable to provide onsite parking so advise using one of the many City Centre car parks.
Drop Offs: Participants can be dropped off via Stoke Road and then exit via Roman Road.
Public Transport:-
Bus: These Bus lines stop near The Downs:1, 2, 3, 4, Y6 the closest bus stop is Black Boy Hill, Redland is 279 meters away, 4 min walk.
Train: Clifton train station is a 16-minute walk from the venue which links to the main train station Bristol Temple Meads.
Charging points: The nearest public electric car charging points to the event site are via Charge Your Car Charging Station Redland Hill, Redland, Bristol BS6 6XL
Cycling & Bike Racks: Bristol City Council have installed more cycle parking across the city, You can find cycle parking available at The Downs Café by using what three words ///glad.rich.sting

Whilst this course is not accessible for wheelchair users given the nature of the obstacles, the event site is accessible.
There are a limited number of accessible spaces available on Stoke Road which is closed but accessible for wheelchair users and our volunteers a Blue Badge and Clock will be nessecary to display.
The main event site is on grass, which is cut just before the event, and a variety of pathways across The Downs to allow spectators to watch participants as they make their way around the course.
Due to the nature of the event it is not suitable for wheelchair users. Pretty Muddy Kids® events start times are staggered in 'waves', each wave starts every 15 minutes to ensure you're safe on the course. If you're signed up as a group, please make sure you sign up for the same wave time.
Adults accompanying children will run alongside the course, but will not be allowed to take part on the obstacles.
Parents or guardians will guide their little adventurer through the 5km course, cheering them on and offering support when needed. If they come across a challenge they can't tackle on their own, they will be there to help them move on to the next one.

The parent or guardian will have a blank running number, on which they can add the running numbers of up to three children they are looking after on the day.
Children up to the age of 12, who are at least 1.2m tall will be able to take part. Children ages 13 and above can join our Pretty Muddy® events.
