Life is worth Racing for. Enter Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life and raise money for life-saving cancer research.
Looking for more of a challenge without any pressure? Race for Life 10k is for you! Our 10k events are now chip-timed, so you can find out if you’ve beaten your personal best – while you’re raising funds to help beat cancer. 10k is just over 6 miles. Take it at your own pace or push yourself a little more. Have fun with it and enjoy the atmosphere.
The Plymouth 10k route starts and finishes on the picturesque Hoe promenade, the 10k route provides fantastic views of the sea and a great atmosphere and is a double lap of the 5k course route.
The 10k Course has an overall ascent of 114.27m throughout the full 10k course. The start is on hardstanding located on The Hoe, Hoe Promenade.
The course is all on paved paths and follows closed roads around the Hoe and pathways in Hoe Gardens, so please do expect some steep inclines and some uneven surfaces.
The finish is on hardstanding located on The Hoe, Hoe Promenade.
Please remember to bring your own water bottle already filled as there will be no bottled water provided at events. There will be a water refill station 1/2 around the course and a ScottishPower water refill station will be available to use at the finish.
Please arrive 30 to 45mins before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time.
You can take part in any Race for Life event as an individual or a group to raise money for life-saving research. Walk, jog or run together in a group or go solo at your own pace, or lead the way as a Group Leader and get family, friends and colleagues involved! However you choose to take part, you’re helping to beat cancer.
Shake off any pre-Race nerves and get moving with our fun warm-up session just before your event.
Bring along as many supporters as you like to cheer you on! We’ve got things for everyone to do, check out the Location section above to see what’s happening on the day.
After you've completed the course, stay on and celebrate with other participants, friends and family with a picnic in the park.

Pedestrians: The closest entrance to the event site for pedestrians on foot is the entrance from Lockyer Street & Citadel Road.

Please note the following road closures will be in effect for the event (timings will be updated nearer the event):

One-way sections: Hoegate Street; Lambhay Hill, Elliot Street until Junction of Citadel Road; Citadel Road for short stretch; Leigham Ter; Leigham Street; Cliff Road; W. Hoe Road; Great Western Road; Grand Parade
Blue Badge Parking: There is no designated event car park at this venue and please note that blue badge parking on The Hoe Promenade will be closed for the duration if the event, please note On-Street regulations for Blue Badge parking in Plymouth;
Yellow lines - for 3 hours or less (with a badge and clock)
Resident bays - for 3 hours or less (with a badge and clock)
Disabled bays - for an unlimited time unless roadside signs show time limits
Pay and display bays - for an unlimited time and free of charge

Drop Offs: Participants can be dropped off via Citadel Road and Lockyer Street.

Bus: These Bus lines stop near Plymouth Hoe:11, 12, 13, 2, 21A, 2A, 42A, FAL, GOLD, The Closest bus stop Royal Parade A5, Plymouth City Centre is 128 meters away, 2 min walk.
Train: Plymouth train station, PL4 6AB is about a 25-minute walk away from the event and uses the local Great Western Railway service.
Electric Charging points: The nearest public electric car charging points to the event site are via Urban Electric Charging Station on Leigham St, Plymouth, please be mindful of road closures during event a secondary location for charging points is a BP Pulse Charging Station located at Holiday Inn Plymouth, Armada Way, Pl1 2HJ
Cycling & Bike Racks: Plymouth City Council have installed more cycle parking across the city, You can find cycle parking available on Plymouth Hoe by using what three words ///garden.pokers.stuff
Plymouth's Beryl Bikes e-bikes are available in Plymouth in partnership with Plymouth City Council to help you tackle those famous hills and see the city from a new angle, hire bikes by the minute or the hour, making it easy to explore the city on two wheels.

This course is all solely on Tarmac and a wide route. There is no differentiation in the terrain. The event site is also on hardstanding, with the staged area on Grass next to the lighthouse which may become boggy and uneven in poor weather conditions. However due to some steep inclines, especially up Lambhay Hill on the route, The 10k is not accessible for wheelchair users. The 10k Course has an overall ascent of 114.27m throughout the full 10k course. Plymouth Hoe is accessible to all with wide tarmac paths throughout the park as well as long the seafront.
