About the 3k event

3k in a pink circle icon
The 3k is the perfect distance (just over 2 miles) to take on as your first Race for Life challenge! It's ideal to take part in solo, as a family or group and is a fun, achievable event for everyone. There's no pressure to finish in a certain time. Run, jog or walk at your own pace, or make your way around the course however suits you to fund our life-saving cancer research.

Venue: Town Fields, Thorne Road, Doncaster, DN2 6BW View map

Course information

The Doncaster 3k course is a single lap route mostly on flat grass with the occasional slight incline. The route starts and finishes in the middle of the playing fields and takes a full lap around the perimeter of Town Fields. Due to the course being on grass, it may be slightly muddy underfoot depending on recent weather conditions.

There will not be any water refill stations along the course so if you require water during the event, please remember to bring your own reusable water bottle already filled up. You will be able to refill this at the refill station when you finish.

Please arrive 30 to 45 mins before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time.

Our courses have been measured with a measuring wheel. This is the most accurate measurement method and may not always correspond with digital tracking apps and watches.

We would recommend that this event is wheelchair accessible with assistance. The course and event site is all on grass, mostly flat with the occasional slight incline so those with accessibility issues may require assistance on the uneven surfaces. However, the grass may become boggy in poor weather conditions, so an alternative shorter route on the paths may be taken on the day if the grounds are unsuitable.

The venue is accessible from most entrances, however disabled parking would be recommended at the lay-by on Thorne Road or along Town Moor Avenue.

If you require any further information on the accessibility of a Race for Life event or wish to bring a carer/assistant to accompany you or if you need to bring a guide runner, please contact our Supporter Hotline on 0300 123 0770 and press 1 when prompted (Opening hours are 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday) or email us at raceforlife@cancer.org.uk
