About the 5k event

5k pink circle icon

The 5k is an achievable distance and a good first challenge for most people. At just over 3 miles it can take about an hour to walk on average, but there's no pressure to finish in a certain time. Go at your own pace to help fund life-saving cancer research.

Course information

The 5k route is a single lap course taking in both Woodbank Memorial Park and Vernon Park. The terrain is a mixture of paths and grass, with a steep descent and ascent between Vernon Park and Woodbank Park. The course also takes in a lap of the athletics track. Due to the course in Woodbank Memorial Park being partly on grass, it may be slightly muddy underfoot depending on recent weather conditions.

There will not be any water refill stations along the course so if you require water during the event, please remember to bring your own reusable water bottle already filled up. A ScottishPower water refill station will be available to use at the finish.

Please arrive 30 to 45 mins before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time.

Our courses have been measured with a measuring wheel. This is the most accurate measurement method and may not always correspond with digital tracking apps and watches.
