About the 5k event
The 5k is an achievable distance and a good first challenge for most people. At just over 3 miles it can take about an hour to walk on average, but there's no pressure to finish in a certain time. Go at your own pace to help fund life-saving cancer research.

The start and finish line is located within the Quarry on the grass field next to the swimming pool.

Pedestrians: The closest entrance to the event site is via Victoria Avenue, however you can use any of the usual entrances to the park.
General Event Parking: There is no designated parking available for the event, the nearest major car park is Frankwell which is approximately 0.5 miles from the event site.
Blue Badge Parking: The nearest available disabled parking is at Frankwell which is approximately 0.5 miles from the event site.
Volunteer Parking: There is no dedicated event volunteer parking for this event.
Drop Offs: The suitable location for drop offs is by the gate to the park on Victoria Avenue, from here it is less than 100m to the event site.
Public Transport: No public transport is available directly to the event site.
Bus: Shrewsbury Bus Station is 0.5 miles walk away.
Train: Shrewsbury Railway Station is 0.6 miles from the event site.
Electric Charging points: There are no electric charghing points available at this event.
Cycling & Bike Racks: There are no bike storage facilities at this event.
We aim to provide our supporters with as much information as possible so that they can make an informed choice based on their own specific needs.

We have assessed this route and concluded it is not wheelchair accessible due to the elevation changes and grass sections

We aim to have a British Sign Language Interpreter available on stage whilst our event host is speaking.
Bring a water bottle
We’re trying to reduce single-use plastic at Race for Life. Please bring your own reusable water bottle, already filled. We'll provide an ecofriendly water-refill station at the finish that uses as little single-use plastic as possible.
Have the right kit
It’s a good idea to check the weather before your event and dress accordingly. Think breathable sports gear (leggings and shorts are ideal) and well-fitting trainers. For Pretty Muddy, wear something you don’t mind getting dirty.

Be sun smart
Stay sun safe by finding shade when you’re not on the course and covering up with clothes, a hat and sunglasses. On parts you can’t cover, use sunscreen with at least SPF15 and a 4 or 5 star rating. Find out more about being sun smart.
Your back sign and race number
Remember to bring your back sign and Race number which will be sent to you in the post – don’t forget safety pins so you can attach them to you.
