The Carlisle course is a flat all the way round, mostly running on smooth paths and grass. You will run around the newly renovated Sheepmount Stadium before heading back into the beautiful garden and bursting with wildlife woodlands of Bitts Park.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.
There is parking available at the Devonshire Walks Car park, just across the road from the start line in Bitts Park. Please note, this is a pay and display car park. However, to look after our environment, we encourage you to car share or take public transport where possible. The start is approximately a 10 minute walk from the city centre and 15 minutes from Carlisle train station. There are a number of bus services that stop just a short walk from Bitts Park. Please use the ‘Plan a Journey’ pages of cumbria.gov.uk to plan your journey.
This route is accessible to wheelchair users, but due to the large majority of the course being on grass assistance is required. Due to the largely grass route, if the weather is bad, a large section of the course will be inaccessible to wheelchair users and significantly reduce the distance.
Inviting your friends and family to support you on the day is a great idea, they can share in the joy with you as you cross the finish line and ring the bell. They can also help you with those important things, like holding your belongings whilst you walk, jog or run round the course.
Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19. We will update on this nearer the time.
