Course information

The Gloucester route starts in Gloucester Park before heading towards the docks along Spa Road. Turning into the docks from Commercial Road, the route runs through the Historic Docks crossing Llanthony Bridge before heading onto Alney Island Nature Reserve. After looping around the Reserve, the route rejoins the 5k course and crosses Gloucester Lock. The route then heads to the Cathedral before returning to Gloucester Park through the city centre, re-entering the park via Spa Road.

The roads are closed for the route which is flat with a combination of grass, roads and pathways.

We kindly ask that you be respectful of other land users in areas such as the Docks, Bridges, and Nature Reserve when passing through.

Meeting point

The start and finish area is in Gloucester Park opposite the Band Stand.

We advise you to use Gloucester Quays as a car park for this event as there are road closures which restrict the access of car parks within the city centre.

Please be aware there will be road closures in place from 10am so make sure you leave time to access the area.

The nearest train station is in the city centre and is a 10 minute walk from Gloucester Park.

Dogs allowed
Not suitable for pushchairs
Not wheelchair accessible
No bag drop
No showers
No parking

Due to the extremely uneven terrain of the nature reserve, which is used for the 10k course, unfortunately this event is not suitable for wheelchair users. However, the Race for Life 5k is - so we recommend taking a look at that event instead.

For spectators with blue badges, please be aware that there is no blue badge parking at Gloucester Park. There are blue badge spaces in Gloucester Quays car park (Southgate Street) which is approximately 600m from the start/finish.

If you require any further information on the accessibility of a Race for Life event, or wish to bring a carer/helper to accompany you, please contact our Supporter Hotline on 0300 123 0770 and press 1 when prompted (Opening hours are 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday) or email us at raceforlife@cancer.org.uk

Supporter / spectator access

We will be giving away bottled water at the finish line. But due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and our plans to reduce single use plastics at our events we encourage participants to bring their own water or hydration fluids on the day.
