Course information

Please arrive 30 to 45 minutes before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time.

Please remember to bring your own water bottle already filled as there will be no bottled water provided at events. ScottishPower water refill stations will be available to use.

The Huddersfield 5k course is a double lap 2.5K route mostly on path with the occasional slight incline. Some parts of the route involve going onto the grass, but these sections can be avoided if required. The route starts and finishes in the middle of the field and takes participants around various paths within Greenhead Park. Due to some of the course/start/finish being on grass, it may be slightly muddy underfoot depending on recent weather conditions.

Meeting point

Please remember to bring your own water bottle already filled as there will be no bottled water provided at events. ScottishPower water refill stations will be available to use.

The meeting point and start/finish line is within the main field at Greenhead Park behind the cafe, next to the miniature railway station

Greenhead Park covers a wide area, but the main postcode is HD1 4HS.

Travelling by Car - There is no parking within the park but there are parking spaces around the outside perimeter. Parking is mostly free but some restrictions are in place so park carefully and responsibly and consider access for residents and emergency vehicles.

Travelling by Public Transport - The 319, 360, 370, 371, or 372 buses from Huddersfield Westgate service Greenhead Park. They will let you off just after Junction roundabout near the Junction Pub. It is approximately three minutes by bus.

Huddersfield Train Station is opposite Westgate. Turn right out of the station and walk up the ramp. The bus stop is on the opposite side of the road.

If you require any further information on the accessibility of a Race for Life event, or wish to bring a carer/helper to accompany you, please contact our Supporter Hotline on 0300 123 0770 and press 1 when prompted (Opening hours are 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday) or email us at raceforlife@cancer.org.uk

We would recommend that this event is wheelchair accessible with assistance. The event site is on grass, but wheelchair users can start the course when it goes onto hard standing path near the start if they prefer. The course is mostly flat with the occasional slight incline so those with accessibility issues may require assistance on the uneven surfaces.

The venue is accessible by wheelchair from most entrances around Greenhead Park, the most suitable entrance for wheelchair users would be the main entrance on Gledholt Road as this is the entrance closest to the event site.

Supporter / spectator access

We are delighted to welcome spectators to Race for Life so please do bring your family and friends along to cheer you on and support you on the day.

Please bring a filled water bottle with you to your event as we're proactively managing our impact on the environment. We will be removing single use plastic bottles.
