About the 5k event

5k in a pink circle icon

The original and most popular Race for Life event, the 5k is an entry-level distance and an achievable first challenge for most. At just over 3 miles it can take about an hour to complete on average, but there's no pressure to finish in a certain time. Walk, jog, run or make your way around the course however suits you to fund life-saving research.

Course information

Please remember to bring your own water bottle already filled as there will be no bottled water provided at events. ScottishPower water refill stations will be available to use.

The Hartlepool route is a single lap course along the coastline at Seaton Carew. The route is mainly along the promenade path and Coronation Drive, however a small section at the start and end of the course is on uneven grass. The main event site is on grass so may be slightly muddy underfoot depending on recent weather.

Please arrive 30 to 45 minutes before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time.

Parking

We recommend this event is suitable for wheelchair users with assistance due to some narrow pinch points along the promenade path and the uneven grass at the start and end of the course. The event site, start and end of the course is on uneven grass which could make conditions difficult in bad weather.
