Sunderland Race for Life 10k, a single lap that ventures through the breathtaking Herrington Park. The course is designed to take you on an immersive experience, showcasing the stunning lakes and local wildlife, with picturesque views of the Penshaw Monument and the North East region.
The Sunderland route mainly comprises of tarmac paths, but please be aware that some sections are on gravel tracks. The course is also undulating, providing an added challenge for participants. Keep a lookout for the 10k split points along the way, clearly marked and stewarded to guide you on your path.
The event site is just a short walk from the car park, so we advise arriving 40-50 minutes before your scheduled start time of 10:00 to ensure ample time for parking and preparations.
The start line is located on the field adjacent to the children's play area.

We positivly encourage the use of public transport, bicycles and car sharing
There are a number of buses that run along Chester Road, all of which are accessible to Herrington Country Park.

Free event parking is provided at this venue. Follow directions from stewards and signage on the day.
We recommend that this event is suitable for wheelchair users however assistance would be required. The course utilises the paths within the park which in places are uneven. The main event site is on grass so may be slightly muddy underfoot depending on recent weather conditions. Designated car parking spaces are provided, car parking stewards will direct you on arrival.

Please bring a filled water bottle with you to your event as we're proactively managing our impact on the environment. We will be removing single-use plastic bottles.
