Course information

The Gateshead course weaves through the beautiful and historical grounds of Saltwell Park, taking in the lake, Saltwell Towers and the various ornamental gardens and features. The route is entirely contained within the park and is predominantly on paths with a lap on the grass of the main event field at the start and end of the run. Do note that route has several inclines and a sharp descent.

Meeting point

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, we’ll be operating a staggered start time in 2021 to ensure your safety on event day. Additional start times may become available as/when needed.

Limited car parking is available in the football fields at the roundabout joining Alexandra Road and Shipcote Lane. Postcode for car parking is NE8 4JA.  Please car share where possible. If travelling by public transport, Go NorthEast operate the 53 and 54 bus to Saltwell Park.

This event is suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs with assistance due to the gradient of some inclines, a descent and the start / end of the course which includes a lap around the grass of the event field.

Supporter / spectator access

Inviting your friends and family to support you on the day is a great idea, they can share in the joy with you as you cross the finish line and ring the bell.  They can also help you with those important things, like holding your belongings whilst you walk, jog or run round the course.

Please note, whilst we hope we can open our events to families and friends supporting on the day, this may not be possible due to government guidelines around COVID-19. We will update on this nearer the time.
