Course information

The Brighton route takes you through the fields and woodland paths of the beautiful Stanmer Park. The course follows a mixture of woodland and grass paths and comes with challenging cross-country terrain. There are some steep inclines to challenge you and create an even bigger sense of achievement once you have completed the event!

Please arrive 30 to 40 minutes before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time.

There will not be any water refill stations along the course so if you require water during the event, please remember to bring your own reusable water bottle already filled up. You will be able to refill this at the refill station when you finish.

Meeting point

The meeting point is in the field on the left as you enter Stanmer Park.

If using what3words, enter ///pirate.voter.saves in the free app, to find the exact starting point.

We encourage the use of public transport to access the event to reduce pollution to the Brighton and Hove area.

By train: A footpath leads to Stanmer Park from Falmer station’s main entrance (the entrance by the ticket office). Approximately 8 minute walk (0.4 miles).

By bus: The Brighton and Hove ‘Breeze’ Bus Service provides access to Stanmer Park. The Route 78 arrives at Stanmer Park Gates (approximately 2 minute walk from the event site) every 15 minutes on Sundays. Plan your journey here. Buses 25 and 28 also run at the weekends, within a 5-minute walk away from the event site).

By bike: Cycle parking stands are provided in the west Lower Lodges car park, the new Patchway car park, and by the Palm House outside the entrance to the restored Walled Garden. These cycle stands are available to all park visitors including users of BTN BikeShare bikes. For more information visit the BTN BikeShare website or download the app on your device.

By car: Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are no longer able to use the usual Stanmer Park field for event parking at the weekend and so we are encouraging participants to use public transport where possible. Falmer Train Station is a 7-minute walk from the event area and buses 25, 28 and 78 operate nearby.

As parking in the Stanmer Park car parks will still be charged, the University of Sussex have kindly given us permission for participants to park for free in their Jubilee multi-storey car park which is only a 10-minute walk from the event area.

To access this car park, please enter University of Sussex campus via University Way or Knights Gate Road and follow signs to 'Car Park 7', which is at the end of Arts Road. Please use postcode BN1 9RG or use the what3words app to take you to the exact location (using the words ///pile.soon.broad). Once parked, follow signage and stewards' instructions to cut through into the top of Stanmer Park from the car park, as this will be much quicker than walking back along the roads!

Please do not park on grass verges within Stanmer Park or on the surrounding roads, as parking fines will be issued. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by changing the parking information at this last stage, but look forward to seeing you at Stanmer Park at the weekend!

Parking

The Stanmer Park course is extremely uneven with muddy pathways which are affected by the weather. This can cause the ground to become very boggy also there are also some steep inclines and declines, for this reason we deem this event as unsuitable for wheelchair users.
