About Pretty Muddy
On the day
You fundraise, we discover
“Pretty Muddy® gives you a good buzz, it’s really uplifting."
While your entry fee covers the cost of your event, it's the money you raise that will fund vital research and see more people surviving cancer.
The start line will be situated on the grass area next to the Watersports Centre within Strathclyde Country Park.
If using what3words, enter ///branded.wrong.dimes in the free app, the find the exact starting point. The finish line will be across the loch, next the to Beach Car Park.
Please remember to bring your own water bottle already filled as there will be no bottled water provided at events. ScottishPower water refill stations will be available to use.
To reduce our impact on the environment, we would encourage the use of public transport where possible. Motherwell Train Station is approx. 25 minutes from the start line. There is a bus stop just outside the south side of the park, on Strathclyde Road. Please plan your journey using www.travelinescotland.com.
If you are travelling to the event by car, please ensure you use junction 6 of the M74. This is due to internal road closures within the park which mean event parking is only accessible via the south entrance of Strathclyde Country Park. Do not use the north entrance (near M&D's) as these car parks are a 35 minute walk to the start line. Blue badge parking is available next to the start line, follow the direction of stewards on the day.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the obstacles in this event, this event is not suitable for wheelchair users to take part.
Spectators can access the full route from the adjacent path that runs the entire way round the loch which is wheelchair and pushchair friendly. Blue badge parking will be available close to the start line.
If you require any further information on the accessibility of a Race for Life event, or wish to bring a carer/helper/guide runner to accompany you, please contact our Supporter Hotline on 0300 123 0770 and press 1 when prompted (Opening hours are 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday) or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Bring a water bottle
We’re trying to reduce single-use plastic at Pretty Muddy. Please bring your own reusable water bottle, already filled. We'll provide an ecofriendly water-refill station at the finish that uses as little single-use plastic as possible.
Bring a change of clothes
If you’re getting Pretty Muddy®, remember to bring spare clothes and a towel. Check the facilities tab above to see what there is at your event. Unfortunately, there are no lockers, changing facilities or showers at the Race for Life events, so please bear this in mind and ask friends to look after your valuable belongings, clean clothes and towels.
Have the right kit
It’s a good idea to check the weather before your event and dress accordingly. Think breathable sports gear (leggings and shorts are ideal) and well-fitting trainers. For Pretty Muddy, wear something you don’t mind getting dirty.
