Race for Life Pretty Muddy is our brilliant 5k muddy obstacle course. Scramble over the A-frame. Crawl through the mud pit. Have fun with your friends. And raise valuable funds for life-saving research.

Course information

The Pretty Muddy Bristol route is a fairly flat course with mixed terrain that mostly follows the perimeter of The Downs, taking in amazing views of the Gorge and Suspension Bridge. This event has some extra challenges thrown in with some fun obstacles to do together. There are lots of opportunities for supporters to watch the fun at each obstacle and the whole event has a fantastic atmosphere.

Please remember to bring your own water bottle already filled as there will be no bottled water provided at events. ScottishPower water refill stations will be available to use.

Please arrive 15 to 20mins before your start time so that you are prepared and ready to go on time

The start line is on The Downs opposite the water tower just off Stoke Road and Ladies Mile.

Parking on The Downs is not permitted. If you arrive early you may find spaces on the surrounding roads but be aware that road closures are in place on Stoke Road, & Ladies Mile. Stewards will be there on the day to direct you. Please note there is limited disabled parking on Stoke Road.

Please utilise public transport: Clifton train station is a 10 minute walk from the venue which links to the main train station Temple Meads. Buses run up to The Downs from the town centre. Please go to firstgroup.com for timetables.

Whilst this course is not accessible for wheelchair users given the nature of the obstacles, the event site is accessible. There are a limited number of spaces  available on Stoke Road which is closed but accessible for wheelchair users and our volunteers and there is a park and ride service running to the site. The main event site is on grass, which is cut just before the event, and a variety of pathways across The Downs to allow spectators to watch participants as they make their way around the course.
